Maxime Cressy was once a top 30 player just a few years ago but the American has nosedived into obscurity. He had a big chance to make the main draw yesterday but fell in five sets 46 61 67 64 46 to Fernando Meligeni Alves.
Mikhail Kukushkin lost in four sets to Hugo Gaston and the 36 year old once ranked 39 in the world may never reach another Grand Slam main draw.
Zarina Diyas of Kazakhstan returned to pro tennis after a two year absence but lost in the 3R qualies 26 57 to Bai of China.
